technology and culture

 Introduction

Technology and culture are two related ideas. The degree to which a society is culturally developed initially dictates the need for and instigates technological advancement, which in turn has an effect on the evolution of culture and increases its complexity and intricateness.

Culture is defined in a variety of ways, but generally speaking, it is "the methods of thinking, the ways of behaving, and the material items that together make a people's way of life" (Macionis 54). Thus, culture refers to our beliefs, behaviors, and possessions. Culture comes in two flavors: material and nonmaterial. Everything developed by society's members that has a physical appearance—i.e., everything we can see or touch—is referred to as material culture. All of society's ideas and concepts that lack tangible characteristics are considered to be a part of nonmaterial culture. It should be said that it may refer to many spheres of human life such as arts, science, politics, ethics, economics, etc., in other words, everything that distinguishes one society or group of people among the others.

The information that individuals employ to create a way of life in their surroundings is known as technology, on the other hand (Macionis 63). This indicates that technology uses knowledge and abilities to improve various aspects of life, such as enhancing productivity, enhancing healthcare quality, etc. It should be noted that when a civilization reached a certain degree of cultural development, it became necessary to make scientific advancements, which in turn sparked advancements in technology. Although technology is a component of material culture, it has such a strong impact on daily life that it has the potential to alter culture and so increase the phenomena of cultural complexity.

In the same way that our culture's fabric is generated by technology, our culture is also created by technology. Technology generates itself, if we continue down this line. Movies like The Terminator or Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron succeed because of this awareness that technology is reshaping itself. In fact, reality is stranger than fiction.

Because technologists or historians frequently take the lead in the conversation on how technology shapes culture, there is a tendency for it to feel excessive or abstract. There is a leap, instance, from automobiles to suburbia. Yes, I did it that way because it's useful to see those extremes. But I believe those big jumps also make the discussion seem less personal to us, because they're the story of large social changes that we're reacting to, rather than actively reinforcing or co-creating with others.

Therefore, I think that because technology is a component of culture and has a significant influence on its evolution, the relationship between culture and technology is quite complex and can be described as cyclical. There are numerous opinions on whether or not this impact is positive, but I believe that there are undoubtedly more drawbacks. Even though technology evolution brought some businesses dangerously close to extinction, it also gave rise to a wide variety of absolutely fantastic artistic forms that add to the fascination of life. Regarding cultural globalization, it is up to each person to decide if they want to renounce their distinct cultural heritage in favor of the universal system of cultural values
